PIERRE ALARD

PIERRE ALARD RECOGNITION OF A KNOW-HOW

Pierre Alard (born in 1950) became involved in the estate very young. Ambitious, passionate, and resolutely self-taught, he showed a significant attachment to his terroir, which led him to actively participate in the qualitative renewal of Monbazillac (obligation to harvest by hand, limited yields, etc.).

Very early on, he joined the elite of the appellation by promoting the rigorous values of his ancestors in the production and wine-making process. The quality of his wines was recognized by his peers, earning him numerous medals. At the same time, he worked to build a modern winery, in line with the time’s technical advances in winemaking.

A tireless worker, he travelled and met many people and made the trade of his wines prosper in France and abroad.

On the eve of his retirement, he decided, together with his two sons, Julien and Antoine, to take over the running of Château De Biran, located on the right bank of the Dordogne valley, one of the most beautiful terroirs of Pécharmant.

This property, one of the oldest vineyard productions in the region, constituted a new base of work, as well as a new challenge for the Alard family, which today draws the quintessence of this terroir overhanging the Dordogne river, through the elaboration of a robust, powerful and singular red wine.

This is how this generation started a new chapter in the history of the Alard family.
