OUR GRAPE VARIETIES

In the heart of a vineyard, no two vintages are the same, comparable or similar from year to year.
« The grape variety is the first name, the terroir is the family name ». (Léonard Humbrecht)

MERLOT

OUR RED AND ROSÉ WINES

Merlot is a black grape variety. It gives fruity and round wines, with supple and melted tannins. It has notes of red fruit. In its youth,
it gives off fruity aromas of red and black fruits (strawberry, cherry, blackberry), which evolve over the years towards notes of prunes, red fruits and spices. On the palate, it is a powerful wine, but without excess, all roundness and greediness. The first tastings reveal the suppleness of the grape variety, its finesse
and elegant tannins.

In a duo with Cabernet-Sauvignon, it brings roundness and softer tannins to a more abrupt Cabernet-Sauvignon. It is also blended with Cabernet Franc, to give wines with a wider range of aromas and complexity. Merlot is also a wine for ageing, presenting a wider range of aromas and creating a more structured wine.

CABERNET SAUVIGNON

OUR RED AND ROSÉ WINES

Cabernet Sauvignon is a black grape variety.
A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, it produces powerful, tannic and structured wines with aromas of spices, black fruits and peppers. It reveals itself in all its complexity after several years and is known for its persistence and length in the mouth. When young, the aromas are fruity, with hints of blackcurrant and blackberry.

When paired with Merlot, it brings aromatic power and structure to a rounder, smoother Merlot.

SAUVIGNON

Our white wines

Sauvignon is a white grape variety, which is the basis for sweet wines and lively and fragrant dry white wines. It produces aromatic, fine and balanced wines, with fresh acidity, vegetal and mineral notes.

Cultivated throughout the world, it is best known for its relatively strong tension on the palate, with aromas of grapefruit, exotic fruits (lychee, mango) and fresh citrus.

SEMILLION

Our Monbazillac

Sémillon is a white grape variety, which is mainly used to produce sweet white wines. Harvested at maturity (noblest) by selective sorting (grape by grape), it give very fruity and exotic aromatic wines with aromas of pineapple and mirabelle Clim. With ageing, we find aromas of candied fruits, very ripe citrus fruits and spices (cinnamon…)

For dry white wines, this grape variety is often blended with Sauvignon blanc, to which it brings depth, roundness and substance, as well as a warmer aroma (yellow fruit, apricot, etc.)

MUSCADELLE

Our exceptional white wines

A relatively little cultivated grape variety, Muscadelle produces a white grape that

is often used in a blend with Semillon and Sauvignon to make Monbazillac, but it can also be used to make dry white wine.

The wines made from it are generally smoother and rounder. Its main characteristic is a very dominant, slightly heady aroma of candied orange and rose, which becomes very interesting when overripe.
